The LTC College can arrange, on request, accommodation for its students. Initially, the College can reserve accommodation with a host family within reasonable travelling distance. The weekly rent for this type of accommodation may range from £95 to £125 per week. The majority of the students reserve accommodation for an initial period of 4 weeks. After the initial period they may extend the contract beyond the initially reserved period or look for alternative, usually cheaper, accommodation.
For accommodation to be arranged by the College, students must let the College have the following at least four weeks before accommodation is required: a) completed Accommodation Reservation Form and b) £500.00 which is one month’s rent deposit and is adjusted against the first 4 weeks’ rent. Any excess amount is refunded to students.
Accommodation can be arranged on behalf of the student by the
college for a non-refundable arrangement fee. Different types of accommodation can be booked according to your preferences and budget:
- Home-stay with an English family
Live with native English speakers and learn about English
customs and culture. Often includes meals and bills in the price and can be a less expensive option.
- Student hostel
The best way to make friends with other students. Hostels
include bills and can be catered or self-catered and for long or short stays.
- Bed & Breakfast hotel(B&B)
A good short-term option while looking for more long-term accommodation.
- Room in a house shared with other students
Self-catered, bills are sometimes included.
The college must be given enough notice (usually 2-3 weeks prior to arrival) if this service is required. Deposits and advance rent may also be necessary.
At LTC College ( UK ) we recognize that accommodation is an essential component of a successful language course and offer a selection of accommodation to suit different tastes. All our accommodation is carefully chosen and we ensure you settle quickly into London life-whether you chose a home stay, hostel, residence, self-catering flat, studio or hotel. We try to arrange accommodation as close to the school as possible and we will do our best to ensure that the students are on direct transport routes; for example buses which stop directly outside the school.
There is a search fee of £100 for finding the accommodation.
Room Only
You have the option of having your own room and access to either the family kitchen or you will share one with other students in the house. You will be able to prepare your own meals or eat out. In some cases cooking facilities will be in your room. You are likely to meet members of the family but there will be no guarantee that they will be able to spend time with you and this option suits those who want to be more independent. You can choose from a single room, double room, twin room, or an apartment with up to 6 individual rooms.
Studio Flat
The studio apartments are ideal for students who prefer to be independent during their time in London . These are attractively designed studios suitable for short stays. It will have space to study and ample storage space. The studios vary in size and facilities but all are well equipped. Most have their own bathroom and kitchenette.
Hostels
If you prefer to be in a crowd and meet other students these are an excellent choice, and again are centrally located .The hostels do not offer the kind of service you would find in a hotel. All toilets and showers are shared.
Host Family
London is a cosmopolitan city with many different types of people from many different backgrounds, and this is reflected in our home stays. What they all have in common is enthusiasm for welcoming foreign students into their homes. Students are treated as any other member of the hosts’ homes and are expected to fit in with the everyday life of the family. An important part of the home stay experience is discovering a different culture and way-of-life. Students will generally eat their meals with their hosts and spend varying amounts of free time with them. Living with English hosts is a good way to practice your English and learn about life-styles and culture. A host family does not always consist of 2 parents and children. A couple or widows, for example, whose children have grown up and left home often, make excellent hosts. Kind hosts in convenient locations provide good homes and food.
